Due Diligence for Leaders — Building & Defending the System
A leadership course where employers and safety leaders build and stress-test the elements of due diligence — foreseeability, controls, training, and supervision — against realistic scenarios across 19 interactions and 6 competencies, so they can show the system was reasonable rather than point to a binder afterward.
Leadership training for the senior leader accountable for the whole safety system — the employer, owner, director, officer, executive, general manager or senior manager who builds and defends the safety management system rather than running any one element of it.
Equip the senior leader — employer, owner, director, officer, executive, general manager or senior manager — to build and defend the safety management system, on the premise that…

Who this course is for
Employers, senior managers, and safety leaders accountable for the safety-management system and its defensibility.
Employers, owners, directors and officers accountable in law for the organization's safety management system
Executives, general managers and senior managers who build, resource and verify the safety program rather than running any one element of it
Senior leaders in an organization that holds or is pursuing a Certificate of Recognition (COR / SECOR) who own the management review and the program's resources
Board members and principals who carry director / officer accountability and the Criminal Code s.217.1 duty for how work is directed
What you will learn
Explain the leader's due diligence — to build the system and hold the proof — and that you can delegate the work but not the accountability: if you never verified, "I told them to handle it" becomes the reason you are liable, not your defence
BUILD the safety management system as the legal defence — as the documented, managed system that makes due diligence happen and provable (referencing, not re-teaching, the SMS and PDCA taught in What Is a Safety Management System / COR?)
RESOURCE the system — assign competent people, real time, a real budget and clear written duties — so that delegation is genuine assignment, not a name on a chart, and no one is assigned safety work beyond their competence, time or authority
VERIFY the system runs through the management review and by commissioning the internal audit (Internal Auditing & Evidence Gathering) and acting on its findings — do not assume the system works because it was built; the leader who never checks has delegated the work AND abandoned the accountability
