Manitoba Privacy & FIPPA/PHIA

A Core Interactive course on Manitoba privacy under FIPPA and PHIA, delivering 11 interactions and 7 validated competencies across what workers can collect, share, and disclose and when consent is required. Real scenarios replace abstract privacy principles.

Protecting people’s privacy is both a legal duty and a matter of trust, and it rests on everyone who handles information. This course equips workers in Manitoba public bodies and health-care settings to understand and apply the province’s two privacy laws: The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), which gives the public a right of access to records held by public bodies and controls how those bodies collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information; and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), which protects personal health information held by trustees such as health professionals, health-care facilities, and health agencies.

Equip every worker in a Manitoba public body or health-care setting to apply FIPPA and PHIA — handling personal and personal health information lawfully and securely, recognizing and reporting breaches, and respecting access and correction rights — so the organization meets its privacy obligations and keeps the public’s trust.
