An advanced scaffold-user course centred on the pre-use check — reading the tag, guardrails, planking, and access — across 20 interactions and 6 competencies, so a user can tell a safe platform from one to refuse before climbing on.
Scaffold user and temporary work platform awareness training for every worker who steps onto a scaffold someone else built — in construction, masonry, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, utilities, events and staging, and general industry. Aligned with the Manitoba WSH Act (C.C.S.M. c.
Equip every worker who works from a scaffold or temporary platform to understand that they are standing on borrowed trust — someone else's workmanship, verified by someone else's…
Workers who access and work from scaffolds and elevated platforms erected by others on Manitoba sites.
Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for one year.
This certificate records completion of knowledge training for the scaffold user — the tag system, the duty split between erector, competent person and user, the user-level pre-use visual check, access and rated load, and mobile-scaffold basics — and it records the Trained state only. It does not establish that the holder can carry out that pre-use check on a real structure, use the built access correctly, or clear, move and re-lock a rolling tower; nothing assessed here can measure any of them. Before the worker is relied on to work from a scaffold, the employer must observe them reading the tag and acting on its state, working through the pre-use check — full deck, full guardrail, plank condition, base and plumb, clearance and ice — climbing by the ladder or stair and not the frame, and keeping the platform within its rated load, and sign that observation off as Competent. This training confers no erecting, altering or dismantling qualification and no competent-person scaffold inspection designation; each is its own training and competency.
About 1 hour online, over 5 modules, at your own pace. It ends with a final test that needs 80% to pass.
One year from the day you pass. Orientra’s standard is for training to be reviewed at least annually and whenever the scaffold systems, equipment, or site conditions change.
