A temporary work platform course where workers inspect and judge real platforms — loading, access, guardrails, and defects — across 19 interactions and 6 competencies, so they recognize an unsafe deck before stepping onto it.
Temporary work platform awareness training for every worker who needs to reach work at height with something other than a ladder or a full scaffold — in construction, maintenance, manufacturing, warehousing, facilities, utilities, events and staging, and general industry. Aligned with the Manitoba WSH Act (C.C.S.M. c.
Give every worker who reaches work at height the judgment to pick the right temporary work platform for the task — a podium, a hop-up, a trestle, a rolling tower, a manufactured…
Workers who use scaffolds, elevated platforms, and other temporary work surfaces on construction, maintenance, and industrial sites.
Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for one year.
This certificate records completion of awareness training in temporary work platforms under MR 217/2006 Part 28 — platform selection, the user rules for mobile access towers, low-level and manufactured platforms, and refusing a makeshift platform — and it records the Trained state only. It does not establish that the holder can use any particular platform safely, and it does not qualify the holder to erect, alter or dismantle a tower or a scaffold, which stays with a competent trained erector. Before a worker is relied on to use a mobile access tower, the employer must observe them completing the pre-use check, setting the base within its height-to-base ratio with stabilizers out and castors locked, climbing inside the tower rather than up the outside, and clearing everyone off before it is moved, and sign that observation off as Competent. The manufacturer instructions for the specific tower or platform always govern.
About 1 hour 10 minutes online, over 5 modules, at your own pace. It ends with a final test that needs 80% to pass.
One year from the day you pass. Orientra’s standard is for training to be reviewed at least annually and whenever the platforms, equipment, or site conditions change.
