Certificate and renewal

Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for three years.

This certificate records completion of awareness-level knowledge training in commercial-vehicle requirements and Hours-of-Service rules, and it records the Trained state only. Before a worker drives a commercial vehicle, the employer must observe the worker completing a daily trip inspection, correctly calling a major (out-of-service) defect, and keeping an accurate daily log or ELD, and sign that observation off as Competent. It is not a Class 1 or commercial-licence course and it is not air-brake (Z) endorsement training: the licence class and endorsements the vehicle requires are issued separately and this certificate does not stand in for any of them. Exact Hours-of-Service limits and the full defect list come from the current federal and provincial rules and NSC Schedule 1.
