Hand and Power Tool Safety trains workers through 11 interactions spotting the failure points — damaged tools, missing guards, wrong tool for the task, and pinch and kickback hazards — validating 7 competencies so safe tool use is a decision made each time.
Hand and power tools are used in almost every workplace, and they cause a steady stream of injuries — cuts and lacerations, amputations, eye injuries, struck-by injuries from flying fragments, electric shock, and the longer-term effects of noise and vibration. Nearly all of these are preventable. This course teaches every worker the foundations of tool safety: choose the right tool for the task and never use a damaged or improvised one; use hand tools correctly; use power tools with their guards in place and functional, the work secured, and control maintained against kickback; manage tool electrical safety (GFCI for portable tools, sound cords, intact grounding); wear the right PPE (eye…
Equip every worker to choose, inspect, and use hand and power tools safely — right tool, guards in place, work secured, electrical safety, and the right PPE — and to tag out defects, so a routine cut, amputation, eye injury, or shock never happens.

Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for one year. Review training at least annually and whenever tools, tasks, or equipment change. Some power tools and machines require additional task-specific or competent-person training…
This certificate records completion of knowledge training in hand and power tool safety. It does not authorize the holder to use any particular tool. Some power tools and machines require additional task-specific or competent-person training beyond this course, and the employer must add the site layer — the tools and guards provided, the electrical and GFCI setup, the PPE required, and the inspection and tag-out system — and confirm the worker is competent on the tools in use.
About 1 hour 10 minutes online, over 5 modules, at your own pace. It ends with a final test that needs 80% to pass.
One year from the day you pass. Review training at least annually and whenever tools, tasks, or equipment change.
