Head, Foot & High-Visibility Protection

A foundation awareness course of 12 interactions and 5 validated competencies where learners match head, foot, and high-visibility protection to real jobsite hazards and spot gear that is wrong, worn out, or defeated. It ensures PPE actually performs when it matters.

Certificate and renewal

Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for three years.

This certificate records completion of knowledge training in head, foot and high-visibility protection, and it records the Trained state only. It does not establish which type, class or grade of protection the holder's own work requires — that comes from the employer's workplace hazard assessment — and it does not establish that any hard hat, safety footwear or high-visibility apparel is worn, adjusted or maintained correctly. Before the worker relies on that protection, the employer must confirm the CSA Z94.1 hard-hat type and class, the CSA Z195 footwear grade and the CSA Z96 high-visibility class the site requires, and observe them inspecting the hard hat shell and suspension, reading the footwear markings, and wearing and maintaining each item correctly, and sign that observation off as Competent. This training does not replace a site-specific hazard assessment, a traffic-control plan, or an electrical-work program where one applies.

Common questions

How long does Head, Foot & High-Visibility Protection take?

About 50 minutes online, over 6 modules, at your own pace. It ends with a final test that needs 80% to pass.

How long is the Head, Foot & High-Visibility Protection certificate valid?

Three years from the day you pass. Head, foot, and high-visibility protection awareness is typically refreshed every 3 years OR sooner after a struck-by, dropped-object, or foot injury or near-miss, or when new hazards (a new overhead operation, a new traffic exposure, or a change in footwear requirement) are introduced.

Which laws and standards does Head, Foot & High-Visibility Protection cover?

The Workplace Safety and Health Act (C.C.S.M. c. W210); The Workplace Safety and Health Regulation (M.R. 217/2006), Part 6; CSA Z94.1 — Industrial protective headwear (hard-hat types and classes); and 3 more listed on this page.
