A core interactive course focused on the details that decide whether PPE actually protects: selecting for the specific hazard, achieving proper fit, and inspecting and maintaining gear so a defect is caught early. Its 11 interactions and 7 competencies build the selection-fit-and-care discipline behind reliable protection.
Personal protective equipment is the last line of defence — and it only works when it is the right PPE for the hazard, fits the worker, and is kept in good condition. This course equips every worker to select, fit, wear, and care for PPE correctly under Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health Regulation.
Equip every worker to select the right PPE for the hazard, fit and wear it correctly, and inspect, maintain, and replace it — understanding PPE’s place as the last line of defence and the duties under Manitoba’s WSH Regulation — so PPE actually protects when…
Workers responsible for choosing, fitting, inspecting, and maintaining their own protective equipment.
Passing the final test issues a QR-verified certificate, valid for one year. Review training at least annually and whenever the hazards, tasks, PPE, or standards change.
This certificate records completion of knowledge training in selecting, fitting, wearing and caring for personal protective equipment, and it records the Trained state only. It does not tell the holder which PPE their own work requires — that comes from the employer's workplace hazard assessment — and it does not establish that any item fits or is worn correctly, which the employer must observe and sign off as Competent. It is not a fit test: anyone required to wear a tight-fitting respirator must be medically cleared and fit-tested on the specific make, model and size before use, under a respiratory protection program to CSA Z94.4. Task-specific PPE training, such as fall-protection equipment, is provided separately.
About 1 hour 10 minutes online, over 5 modules, at your own pace. It ends with a final test that needs 80% to pass.
One year from the day you pass. Review training at least annually and whenever the hazards, tasks, PPE, or standards change.
