A certification-band signaller course built around 19 interactions and 7 validated competencies covering standard hand and radio signals, sightline positioning, blind-lift calls, and knowing when to stop the lift. Learners leave able to give clear, unambiguous direction under load.
Signal person and crane signaller training for the worker who is the crane operator's eyes — directing lifts with the standard hand signals or by radio — in construction, steel erection, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, and general industry. Aligned with the Manitoba WSH Act (C.C.S.M. c. W210, including the s.43 right to refuse dangerous work), WSH Regulation MR 217/2006 (cranes and hoists), and CSA Z150 / B167 with the recognized standard crane hand-signal set.
Equip the designated (or soon-to-be-designated) crane signal person to be the operator's eyes — the single, clear, standard voice that directs a lift the operator often cannot fully see.

Who this course is for
Designated signal persons and riggers who direct crane operators by hand or radio during lifts.
Workers being designated (or considered) as a crane signal person / signaller
Riggers, lead hands and crew who signal cranes on their lifts
Construction, steel-erection and industrial-maintenance workers who direct lifts
Manufacturing and warehouse staff who signal overhead-crane lifts
What you will learn
Explain the signal person role (the operator's eyes) and when a signaller is required — the operator can't clearly see the load, path or landing; blind lifts; work near people or hazards
Apply the "one voice talks to the crane" rule — a single designated signaller, the operator takes direction from that one voice, and a STOP is obeyed from anyone
Give the standard crane hand signals clearly and correctly — the recognized set (hoist/load, travel/move, stop, caution), a shared language not a personal style
Position to see the load, the operator and the landing and to be seen — clear of the load path and pinch points, never under the load, and visually distinct in hi-vis
Use clear voice/radio signalling protocol and apply the lost-communication rule — no signal, or an unclear one, means STOP
